A MESSAGE FROM THE ADC PRESIDENT:
Welcome to the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and Nevada’s website. The ADC continues to meet the needs of the members through the use of this website, timely education programs, newsflashes, use of e-mail groups which allow our members to share information, as well as through the California Defense Counsel which presents the ADC’s voice in Sacramento.
Through this website, you can check our calendar of events, apply for or renew your membership, and locate a member attorney by name, city or legal specialty. Members can access our magazine, Defense Comment, our News Flashes which alert members to significant case developments and our online membership directory. There's a lot of information and some very useful links here. We hope you will spend a few minutes to look around and check out the features.
As the President of the ADC for 2015, I am honored to serve the Association and to work with our committed Board of Directors and professional staff, led by Executive Director Jennifer Blevins.
The ADC, now in its 56th year of service, is the only organization in Northern California and Nevada standing up for attorneys who make their living defending civil lawsuits. Our members practice in a wide variety of specialties, but are united in their desire for an organized voice to put forth the defense perspective to the State Legislature and the Judicial Council through our advocate Mike Belote of the California Defense Counsel, and to the Courts through the work of our Amicus Committee and Bench-Bar Committee.
The ADC’s continuing education calendar is full of events throughout the year, including programs regarding: Employment Law; Unraveling the Mysteries of Law and Motion, Beyond The Practice Guides And Into Chambers; Construction Defect; Toxic Torts; Law Firm Management; Basic Training; plus hot topic webinars and podcasts to keep members informed.
This year we have added a new sub-law section to the nine existing sections. The new section is entitled “Business Litigation,” and will focus on everything from business disputes to intellectual property. Remember, you can belong to as many sub-law sections as you wish. Please refer to the “Sub-Law” tab at the top of this website for more information.
We are adding a Trial Academy to be run by the ADC’s past presidents, who have a true wealth of trial experience that they can pass on to the “journeyman lawyer” who needs to sharpen up their trial skills.
