This presentation will look at an actual crash case in which the police post-crash safety inspection identified out-of-service violations for the involved commercial vehicle. In reporting those violations, the inspection report created risk to the commercial carrier and set the foundation for a manslaughter charge to be brought against the driver. We'll discuss how to analyze an inspection report for carrier and driver risk, how an expert inspection provides the foundation for challenging reported violations, how to appeal violations through the DataQ process, and what an amended inspection report means for risk exposure and potential for criminal prosecution.
