Substantive Law Landowner Liability
The ADC has formed a Landowner Liability Law Sub-committee to be chaired by
Todd Wenzel of Ropers, Majeski and Laura Flynn of Low, Ball & Lynch. The
committee will present educational seminars and meet periodically to discuss
common areas of interest.
The first seminar will be a Brown Bag held on March 28, 2007 at the Sedgwick
firm in San Francisco. The topic of this seminar will be "Ellis Act Evictions" -
The Landlord's Trump Card to Eviction Controls -- Avoiding Liability Under Local
Ordinances with guest speaker, Andrew Zacks of Zacks Utrecht & Leadbetter, PC.
Please see the attached flyer for complete details and register today as space
is limited.
During 2007, the committee expects to present more brown bag luncheons in areas
such as: ADA Compliance, Rent Ordinances, "Mold" cases, as well as a basic
half-day seminar on defending wrongful eviction and habitability claims. There
is no cost to join if you are already an ADC member, but we ask that you please
respond to this e-mail if you wish to be added to this new Sub-Law Committee.
Membership in the committee will provide networking opportunities and will allow
members to keep abreast of related legislative issues, case opinions and
verdicts. Additionally, there is a communication opportunity for the committee
via the ADC Web Site through the discussion forums, so be sure to log in and
subscribe - www.adcnc.org.
Please contact Todd Wenzel (
TWenzel@Ropers.com ) or Laura Flynn (
lflynn@lowball.com ) if you have any interest in being kept informed as to
the committee's plans and events. In addition, please let us know if you are
aware of other counsel who may be interested in joining.
